The R55C4 Carbon Brake Shoe compound was developed in conjunction with the R1900 Dura-Ace group to deliver consistent stopping power, control, and modulation on carbon rim surfaces in all conditions. Like virtually all carbon brake pads, the compound is less effective in wet conditions. If you get caught out in the rain, the pads still help keep you in control with a little caution, but wear faster. The compound is designed to limit heat build-up at the rim surface, limiting fade under heavy use. Durability and consistency are essential to rider confidence so the everyday performance of these carbon rim brake pads is greatly appreciated by cyclists. The segmented pad surfaces allow heat, dust, and water to release during use, with plenty of pad surface for power and control. Shimano includes one pair of brake pads (for one caliper), with the two set screws for installation.

Please keep in mind that many carbon rim manufacturers require, or recommend specific pad compounds or thicknesses for their rim brake surfaces. Take the time to study their requirements and only use the proper pads when specified. The R55C4 Carbon Brake Shoe is compatible with all Shimano full carbon braking surfaces on rims up to 19mm wide.

Features:

  • One pair of road brake pads for recent Shimano road and cantilever brake systems on carbon braking surfaces with external width under 19mm
  • Compound designed for every day use, in wet or dry conditions, ideal when dry
  • Wet conditions wear pads more quickly, and reduce stopping power/control
  • Durable, with long consistent wear in dry conditions when properly installed
  • Slotted lines segment the pad surface to release heat, grime, water
  • Works with dual pivot and direct mount calipers as listed below
  • One pair of pads outfits one brake caliper
  • Includes two brake pads, 2 set screws w/ mild threadlocker for installation
  • Fits: Shimano BR-9100, BR-9000, BR-9010, BR-8000, BR-7900, BR-7800, BR-7700, BR-6800, BR-6700, BR-6600, BR-6500, BR-5700, BR-5600, BR-5501, BR-5500, BR-R650, BR-R561, BR-R560, BR-CX70, as well as pad holders from other companies that use Shimano's holder/shoe standard

Rob was fantastic to deal with. He spent time getting to know me so he could order the best bike for me. As soon as the bike arrive Rob did a thorough bike fit so I had a comfortable ride straight away. He was very knowledgeable and I will continue to shop and recommend Salters Cycles to others. Fantastic service. Thank you for all your help.

I've had all my servicing performed at the shop and happily bought my last bike through the shop ( which I love!).
The mechanics are awesome and have always helped out whenever I've had issues. When I broke a spoke and needed a wheel rebuild weeks before a big event the guys went out of their way to get me up and running again, the customer service was outstanding!
If you need a bike, this is the place.

Rob is so lovely and helpful. He pumped my tyres and also showed me how to do them myself. He also recommended a pump which I purchased and how to use it. I highly recommend Rob and his team.

Thank you Rob for pointing out the front wheel being installed improperly, avoiding a potential future bike injury and done for free.

Definitely a go to place for biking needs and fixes. They care for safe riding and your wellbeing on the roads.

There are bike shops and then there is Salter Cycles, the nicest bunch of knowledgeable blokes in the business, no wonder they have been going since 1990, thanks Rob and Tim for everything.

Had a new bike built recently by Tim at Salter Cycles which couldn't of been done better. All the components were assembled professionally and measurements set to a tee as per the bike fit data. Originally I had bought a HED wheelset here with great service throughout so when it came to a new frameset build the decision was a no brainer! The guys are passionate about riding and really know their stuff which made all the suggestions relevant. Also, thanks again Rob for recommending the frame colour, lovin it!

About Salter Cycles

Our Story

Salter Cycles began life in 1999 as a family business run by Geoff and Adrian Salter. Living and riding in the western suburbs we could see the growing need for a quality bike shop in the Altona, Altona Meadows, Laverton and Point Cook corridor. Both being life long cyclists and bike racers, our mission has always been to help our customers enjoy their bikes as much as we do.
