With a design and construction with the single aim of producing the most power efficient shoe possible, Northwave looked into every aspect of the shoe, from how the sole is constructed to how the retention system affects power transfer. Carbon construction methods were tried and tested to find the ultimate level of stiffness and efficiency. Numerous versions of the dial retention system and dial placement were tested to find the balance of security, comfort and power transfer. The heel design refined to prevent any heel slip and the footbed optimised for power transfer.

XFrame 2® upper construction

Double SLW2 dial closure
Comfort and fit are enhanced by the double SLW2 dial. This differentiates the pressure between the top of the instep and the toe for even better adaptability and even distribution of pressure.
Integrated heel system
An integrated heel system containing directional fibre prevents slipping and improves comfort.
Pro Regular Fit footbed
Power transfer is further increased by the Pro Regular Fit footbed with a stiffened dual-density design.
The shoes are compatible with 3 bolt fitting cleat designs, and also work with the NW Speedplay adapter for the lowest stack height between foot and pedal.
